A big crowd turned out for that one, and they the club saw a crowd of 8,700 turn up for their other Friday night match against Somerset in this campaign.

And Glamorgan bosses are now aiming to beat the record attendance of 9,200 for the Gloucestershire game in 2010, when Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait made his debut.

“The crowd played their part again against Worcestershire in supporting the team and helping us get a much needed victory,” said Glamorgan chief executive Alan Hamer to www.walesonline.co.uk.

“We’re in a good position now and are going for top spot in the pool and a home quarter final.

“We expect a big crowd for the game against Northants, which is first versus second, so we hope to break our record attendance.”

Glamorgan head of elite performance Matthew Mott outlined the importance of home support with the county winning all three of their home Cardiff games in the T20 so far this summer.

“It is a great stadium and the atmosphere especially at the end of matches is fantastic,” said Mott.

“I hope people turn up on Friday night and we can continue our winning record in Cardiff.

“The next game is very important because winning that would take a lot of pressure of us.

“Northants are playing well and beat us up there but we are confident we can take them out down here.”
