As things stand, the club will be without an import for the latter stages of the campaign and are still waiting on a decision from Trent Copeland who has been offered a short-term contract for a second stint at the County Ground.

The Australian remains the preferred choice and chief executive David Smith says that some news, one way or another, isn’t too far away.

He said: “We’re considering all the options at the minute.

“We’re still talking to Trent about him coming back but that’s an ongoing thing at the minute.

“We hope to have something decided either late this week or early next week.”
