An unusual driving experience near Northamptonshire gives two people the chance to take control of a Scorpion tank, navigate a challenging course and simulate firing its powerful 76mm gun – with £151 off the usual price.

Thrill-seekers can take control of a military tank and simulate firing its powerful gun in an unusual driving experience just across the Northamptonshire border.

The Scorpion Tank Firing Experience for Two, available near Rugby in Warwickshire, gives participants the opportunity to climb inside an Alvis Scorpion tank and experience what it takes to operate the military vehicle.

And the experience is currently advertised at £398, reduced from £549, representing a saving of £151, or 28 per cent.

Designed for two people, the adventure involves taking on different roles inside the tank, with one participant driving while the other operates the turret and gun.

The driver must navigate the course and help position the vehicle so the gunner can identify and aim at enemy targets.

Meanwhile, the gunner gets to operate the tank's original aiming equipment, rotate the turret and simulate firing its 76mm gun.

There are three opportunities to hit the target before the driver must manoeuvre the vehicle away from the simulated enemy position.

The Alvis Scorpion is advertised as the world's fastest tank, making the opportunity to take its controls particularly appealing to military enthusiasts.

Participants are welcomed by the team before beginning their experience, which includes approximately 30 minutes of tank driving or simulated firing activities.

Previous customers have praised the adventure, which has received a five-star rating from seven reviews.

One visitor, Katie, described the experience as "amazing", adding that she and her son particularly enjoyed firing at simulated enemy tanks.

Drivers must be at least 18 years old and hold a full UK manual driving licence for at least 12 months.

Passengers can be aged over 12, while participants must be between 5ft and 6ft 4in tall.

A reasonable level of physical fitness is required because accessing the tank involves climbing into confined compartments.

Spectators are welcome, with additional passenger rides in a similar vehicle available for £20 per person.

Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months, with flexible booking and instant delivery available.

For anyone seeking an unusual birthday or Christmas present, the experience offers a chance to get behind the controls of a military vehicle without joining the armed forces.
