First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is set to reveal Scotland’s lockdown exit plan this afternoon (16 Mar), updating Holyrood on the latest plans surrounding when and how Covid restrictions will be eased across the country.

Hide AdSturgeon will reveal the Scottish Government’s exit plan today, Tuesday 16 March, and is expected to speak at around 2:15 pm.

What is the First Minister likely to say in her announcement?
The First Minister’s statement is expected to include details on easing for the retail and hospitality industries.

Hide AdProspective dates are also expected for the reopening of non-essential shopping, outdoor and, subsequently, indoor hospitality, as well as further relaxations to the rules about meeting up with other households.
Some measures could be phased in from 5 April, with further easing coming in later in the month and more to follow in May.
Speaking on Monday, Sturgeon said: “I will seek to set out some details of what changes we hope to be able to make in early April - hopefully around April 5 - and then what further easing we might expect to see in late April, and then mid-May, and in much less detail beyond that.
“We cannot provide certainty on everything at this stage, particularly the further into the future we try to look, but we will try to provide as much clarity now as possible.”
