Attention fans of Peter Kay's Car Share - two special episodes of the show are set to bring the popular comedy to a close this month. And one of them is completely ad-libbed.

The end of series two - a rather downbeat chapter in the will-they-won't-they relationship of central characters John and Kayleigh - left fans wanting more, and now it seems we might get a definite conclusion to the popular comedy.

The first of the two specials - Peter Kay's Car Share Unscripted - has just received a 30-second trailer, and will be shown on BBC One next week.

This will be a completely improvised edition of the beloved series, featuring Kay and co-star/creator Sian Gibson ad-libbing as John and Kayleigh.

The entire show is set to follow them home on their daily commute, and features what was filmed while driving around with no script.

'Something special'

When the show was announced late last year, Kay noted that a fully ad-libbed episode wasn't actually that far from the norm.

He said that he and Sian Gibson are "always very fond of ad libbing around the script" when filming the series, "so we decided to see what would happen if we took the script away and just relied on just our chemistry alone".

According to Kay, there'll be a lot of "reacting to whatever came on the radio".

The trailer shows John and Kayleigh singing along to The Buzzcocks' 'Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've)' in a rather unique style - perhaps a cheeky nod to the pair's own onscreen romantic tensions?

In the trailer, Kay notes that they wanted to do something "special", and the one-off episode looks to take a slightly different and more relaxed pace than usual.

Following that will be a one-off scripted special, set to air on the late May Bank Holiday weekend.

Fans will no doubt be sad to see the end of Car Share for the second time - the two shows are being broadcast to mark the end of the show's run - but the specials should provide a memorable conclusion.

Peter Kay’s Car Share Unscripted airs on Monday May 7 on BBC One at 10pm
