What’s your favourite play equipment? Daventry council wants your views on how to spend £120,000

People are being invited to choose their favourite design for new equipment being installed in a Daventry park as part of a £120,000 revamp of the town’s playgrounds.

Daventry District Council wants to transform the play area in Wimborne Place, in Ashby Fields as part of the wider improvement project.

Three potential designs have been drawn up, and the council is asking families and young people living near the park to help decide which one is best.

All the designs feature new play equipment for toddlers, an area for children aged five and over, additional play equipment for children ten and over next to the existing skate ramp, and a shelter.

People can see the designs in more detail and choose their favourite by visiting www.daventrydc.gov.uk/WimbornePlace or by visiting Daventry District Council’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/DaventryDistrict

People have until 4pm on Friday, 27 November to register their favourite, with the public vote taken into account when DDC makes its final decision.

Playgrounds in Daneholme Park, Edgehill Drive, Dee Walk, The Severn, The Roundway and Grenadier Road will also benefit from new equipment or repairs to existing apparatus in the coming months as part of the £120,000 improvement project. It is hoped the work will be completed by March 31 next year.

Councillor Alan Hills, Portfolio Holder for Community, Culture and Leisure at Daventry District Council, said: “We are fortunate in Daventry to have a good number of play areas, but some of them are in need of improvement so we are pleased to be able to embark upon this scheme for the benefit of families and young people.

“The improvements to the playground at Wimborne Place form a major part of this project so we are really keen to get feedback on the designs from residents. Your opinion really does matter to us so please get in touch and have your say.”
