Weedon Tesco given planning approval

IN A shock move Tesco’s application to put an Express store in Weedon was given approval by Daventry District Council’s planning department on Wednesday evening.

Just three week’s ago the same committee refused to give permission to the scheme, which is to build the new store and six flat on the site of the Globe Hotel on the A5/A45 crossroads, despite planning officers recommending the plans.

At the time the committee, and residents of Weedon believed the scheme had been rejected, however a formal rejection had not been issued.

It was put on the agenda of this week’s meeting and many expected the outcome would be the formal rejection, but DDC has said the scheme was instead given full planning permission.
