Weather watchers are warning of a risk of more April snow hitting Northamptonshire tonight (Sunday).

Local forecasters @NNweather and BBC meteorologists have both identified sleet or snow pushing into Northamptonshire overnight.

BBC East's Dan Holley tweeted: "As temperatures fall this evening and overnight, scattered wintry showers may start to give some local snow accumulations.

"Later in the night an area of sleet or snow may push into Northants, Bucks and Hertfordshire giving one-to-three centimetres but the exact track is uncertain at this range.

"It will be a case of watching the radar this evening to see where the showers track."

Met Office forecasts show temperatures in the county tumbling to around freezing overnight, although it will feel more like -4°C in the westerly wind, leading to icy roads and paths on Monday morning as kids return to school after the Easter break and non-essential shops open for the first time this year.

The highest April temperature recorded at the Met Office weather station at Pitsford School was 26.5°C on April 19, 2018.

The lowest was -2.8° April 5 back in 2006.
