Village homes sites to go before councillors

Plans for homes in two villages will go before Daventry District Council’s planning committee on Wednesday next week (July 16).

On land off Upton Close and Byfield Road in Woodford Halse the principle of 200 homes has already been approved, but outstanding matters will go before the committee.

They previously discussed the matter last month and decided to defer making a decision due to lack of information on broadband coverage, landscaping and bungalows being included in the affordable housing allocation.

The report this time states a bungalow has been included in the revised plans, along with a statement on the broadband coverage. The application is recommended for approval.

In Weedon an application for houses on land off Croft Way will be discussed.

The outline application – a revised version of a previous one which had been refused – only indicates 26 homes could be built there. Weedon Bec Parish Council has objected, as have 12 residents. One letter from a resident was received in favour of the plans.

The officer’s report highlights that the site is currently green field and lies outside the village edge, and recommends it for refusal because of that.

The planning committee meets at Daventry District Council’s Lodge Road offices at 6.15pm on Wednesday, July 16.
