This Saturday (June 20) is the Welton Fete and Soap Box Derby running from 1pm to 5pm.

Attractions include pupils of Welton Academy Primary School doing a Strictly Dancing demonstration; the famous WI teas will be on offer in the village hall plus their cakes; the school PTA will be running various stalls including two barbecues and a pulled beef stall, a champagne and canapes stall, and a bouncy slide for the children.

There is a tombola stall and there is a raffle with first prize being a two Night De Vere Hotel Break, second £200 from Venture Caravans, 3rd third and lots more.

Another of the attractions will be the soap box derby, racing down the hill from the White Horse Pub, which will be holding a mini beer festival.

Village fete started as a church fete to raise funds for St Martins in the village. In the last five years it has been joined by Welton Academy Primary School PTA and both have worked hard to create a ‘Family Village Fete’ raising funds for both the church and the school.
