Village charity’s donation helps young footballers net new goals

A JUNIOR football club has been celebrating after getting new goals thanks to a donation.

The Byfield Juniors bought the new posts after the club received money from Causeway – a charity based in the village.

Mark Challice, chairman of Causeway, said: “Causeway is a small local charity that helps groups in our village with funding for small projects.

“We recently made a small donation to allow our junior football club to purchase some new goals.

“The football club is currently the strongest it’s been for a number of years with up to 50 children ranging from five to 12 years old.

“The club has a great reputation for helping children of all abilities to develop their talents.”

Representatives from the charity joined the young players and managers on Saturday to mark the donation.

The club trains most Saturdays on the Brightwell playing field in Byfield.
