Motorists driving into Northamptonshire reported having hours added on to their journey times as traffic was diverted off the M1 and back on again.

Many surrounding routes were also affected.

The M1 opened at around 3.30pm yesterday afternoon - nearly 19 hours after it first closed.

A passenger in a car captured the blaze on video from the northbound carriageway.
