A huge lorry fire which forced the closure of the M1 in Northamptonshire for around 19 hours caused long delays for drivers.
The lorry - which was carrying a load of cheese - caught fire on the southbound carriageway just past junction 18 for Crick at around 9pm on Monday.
Firfighters battled through the night to tackle the blaze and get it under control.
The Highways Agency then had to carry out emergency repairs to the surface of the road which had been badly damaged in the fire.
Motorists driving into Northamptonshire reported having hours added on to their journey times as traffic was diverted off the M1 and back on again.
Many surrounding routes were also affected.
The M1 opened at around 3.30pm yesterday afternoon - nearly 19 hours after it first closed.
A passenger in a car captured the blaze on video from the northbound carriageway.
