SCHOOLCHILDREN in Newnham enjoyed a day at the seaside with a difference last week.
The primary school pupils spent the day in Victorian costume experiencing what an old fashioned day on the coast was like.
Teacher Mrs Kim Cresswell said: “All the key stage one pupils took part. It was arranged as part of our cross curriculum topic which is the seaside now and then.
“We turned the playground into a beach and had sand castles. We also had hokey pokey, which was the Victorian name for ice cream.
“We had libe a Punch and Judy show so the children could experience what a Victorian day out at the seaside was like.
“They all had a great time and the costumes made by the parents were fantastic.
“So much effort was put into them.”
