A new-style ‘local’ service will launch later this month at the Edinburgh Square Post Office at the Best-One shop on the Headlands.

The new service will be launched on Wednesday, April 27, and from then post office services will be available throughout the shop’s opening hours; Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm; Saturdays from 9am to 5pm; and on Sundays from 10am to 1pm.

This is an extra 24 hours and 30 minutes a week, including Sunday morning and Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. The branch will open significantly earlier and will close later. It also marks an end to lunchtime closing.

Post Office services will be provided from an open-plan counter alongside the retail till, which will make it easier for staff and customers to have discreet conversations.

The branch needs to close for refurbishment on Wednesday, April 20, at 1pm.

Edinburgh Square will be a local plus style branch with enhanced local services, including manual banking, Transcash, and Royal Mail and Parcelforce Worldwide International parcels..

Michael Brennan, area manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.”
