UPDATE: New appeal for witnesses after baby left abandoned in box outside Northamptonshire home

Police investigating the circumstances around the discovery of a baby left outside a house in Corby are issuing a fresh appeal for witnesses to come forward.

Officers still urgently need to trace the baby’s mother and continue to be concerned for her welfare.

Detective Inspector Lorraine Gordon, who is leading the investigation, said: “We urgently need to find the baby’s mother so we can help her get the care and support she undoubtedly needs and I am appealing for her to come forward and speak to us.

“We think the baby may have been left as early as 6am yesterday and I am appealing for anybody who may have been in the Ibsen Walk area of Corby around that time to contact us.”

Police have also released pictures of the blankets the baby girl was found in.

She was left in a box which was lined in the blue blanket, which has a Kirkton House label, believed to be from Aldi, and the cream one, which has an Early Days label and is believed to be from Primark.

The baby continues to be cared for by Kettering General Hospital and is said to be in good health.

She has dark hair, dark eyes and is believed to be up to six weeks old.
