Tributes to dad who died in car crash

Tributes have been paid to a family man from Daventry who died following a car crash.

Jamie Collins, 34, from Apollo Close on the Timken estate, died after his car collided with a van on the A361 near the Newnham/Staverton crossroads on Saturday January 18.

Also in the car was his 16-year-old daughter, Skye, who remains in a serious condition in hospital.

Mr Collins had been engaged to Tracy Wilding for almost two years, and had set a date for their wedding of July 5 this year.

As well as Skye, Mr Collins was also a dad to Summer, 13, and Theo, four.

Miss Wilding said: “Jamie was funny, full of life and could light up a room when he came in.

“There was never a dull moment when he was around. He was a big practical joker.

“Jamie was very caring, he loved his children and was brilliant with them.

“He was he most genuine person you could meet and he was just amazing.

“I am devastated by his death. There are no words to describe it.

“He liked his football, and was a big Leicester City fan. He also trained regularly.

“Jamie was Daventry through and through and had so many friends here. Lots of people have been posting messages on Facebook since Saturday.”

Mr Collins’ mother Lyn spoke on behalf of his brothers Mark and Shane, father Mark and nan Daisy. She said: “Jamie was a wonderful son, partner, father, brother, grandson and uncle.

“He had a heart of gold, always had time for people, and would do anything for anyone.

“He always lit up a room with his charm, personality, wit and smile. He will never be forgotten. I will always love you son.”
