Daventry District Council (DDC) has paid tribute to councillor Ken Melling, who passed away last week following his battle with cancer.

A district councillor for 15 years, Cllr Melling was also a county councillor. He lived in Upper Harlestone.

DDC leader Cllr Chris Millar said: “We are all deeply saddened by this terrible news and our thoughts and prayers are with Ken’s wife Jane and family. Ken was a superb and well-respected councillor who always did everything he could to serve the best interests of his community. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.”

Cllr Melling died last Wednesday. A thanksgiving service will be held at Brington Church on Monday, July 8 at 2.30pm.
