Here is the traffic moos ... Stunned Highways England staff had to halt vehicles on the M1 near Northampton while they coaxed a COW off the motorway.

Motorists making essential journeys northbound had to sit and wait for around an hour between junctions 17 and 18 as traffic officers rounded up the loose livestock having a Saturday afternoon stroll and a snack or two along grass verges a few feet away from speeding traffic.

The cow was finally shooed back into its nearby field after 3pm to get traffic was quickly on the moove again.
