Vehicle fire brings M1 to a standstill between Northampton and Milton Keynes

Traffic on the M1 southbound is at a standstill between Northampton and Milton Keynes as emergency services deal with a blazing care during Thursday morning's rush hour.
Highways England are warning drivers to avoid the area until after 10.30am with 6½-mile queues in the area.

Hide AdCrews from Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue are on route to the incident between Junction 15 and Newport Pagnell services.
Dramatic dashcam footage from a vehicle passing the scene on the northbound carriageway showed the vehicle blazing on the hard shoulder.
At about 8.15am, a spokesman for Highways England said: "There are now delays of up to 90 minutes on the approach to this incident on the M1 south between Junction 15 and Junction 14 with 6½ miles of congestion back towards Northampton."
