Queues on M1 near Northampton and A45 at Wellingborough after reports of crashes and broken down vehicles

There are queues on the M1 southbound at Northampton and the A45 near Wellingborough following reports of collisions and a number of broken down vehicles on Wednesday morning.

Highways England tweeted that one lane had been closed due to a shunt on the motorway between Junction 15 and Junction 14 at around 6.30am.

Sensors also picked up stranded vehicles on the same stretch of carriageway heading towards Newport Pagnell Services.

And jam cams showed severe tailbacks stretching between Junction 15A and Junction 16 with delays of 15 minutes or more.

Traffic is also struggling along the A45 from the Queen Eleanor Roundabout heading towards the M1.

AA Travel also reported one lane is closed causing 20-minute delays for traffic heading west on the A45 between Turnells Mill Lane and Wilby Way.

Traffic sensors show queues back to the A6 at the Chowns Mill Roundabout.
