A COLOURFUL parade going through Daventry town centre drew the crowds on Saturday.
The parade was part of Daventry Arts Festival, a series of entertainment events put together by Daventry Business Partnership (DBP).
The procession saw several groups take part in the parade, which started at St James Infant School through the town centre, before finishing at the New Street Recreation Ground.
This was followed by a picnic in the park with live music performances.
DBP manager Sally Halson said: “I am absolutely delighted with how the parade went and with the numbers of people involved.
“Despite the atrocious weather, the parade showed quite clearly that the community spirit in Daventry is very much alive and well.
“I would like to say a big thank you to the all the individuals, local businesses, community groups, organisations, and volunteers who took part in what was a very special event and day for Daventry.
“There is no doubt in my mind that the parade will grow going forward and provide a fantastic opportunity for people to come together and celebrate Daventry and the amazing variety of things the town has to offer throughout the year.”
