A Daventry nursery, which at the start of last year was judged as satisfactory by Ofsted, has been rated outstanding following its latest inspection.

The Government inspection team gave Dolphin Day Nursery in Ashby Road the award across all areas.

This included the early years provision of the nursery to meet the needs of all the children who attend, the well being of the child and the effectiveness of the leadership and management of the nursery. The manager at the nursery, Caroline Wood, said: “I am really proud of the staff because of all of the hard work and commitment they have put in.

“This judgement is a fantastic achievement and a testament to them.”

The nursery was judged to be satisfactory in January 2013 and then to be good in April 2013.

Mrs Wood added: “We have all been striving to make this an outstanding nursery, it was what we all wanted.

“We were really pleased with some of the comments that Ofsted made about the nursery.

“We were delighted the teaching was judged to be outstanding and that Ofsted thought the children were highly valued individuals. It is lovely to hear comments like that.

The news has gone down well too with the parents of children at the nursery.

Mrs Wood said: “The parents have been really thrilled with the news. They are over the moon.

“I think they feel good knowing their child is coming to a nursery which has been judged as outstanding.

“They know they will be getting the best possible care and attention and a great environment in which to learn.

“It is great as well for the nursery because parents are more likely to use a nursery if it is judged to be outstanding.”
