The focus is on fun for open day at village’s new children’s centre

A NEW children’s centre has opened its doors in Long Buckby.

The Children’s Centre hosted a fun day on Friday to mark the opening of its new base in the village’s Station Road.

Sally Bussey, centre manager, said: “We had 40 families turn up for the event which was more than expected.

“There was face painting and activities for the children, and Rosie the dog – SureStart’s mascot – was there.

“We also had visits from health professionals and other partners, including Long Buckby Library who put on story reading and rhyme time sessions.

“Our parent forum group was also there.”

The opening of the new base for the service marks the first time that the children’s centre has actually been based in the village.

Until now the service was run in locations like the library by people visiting Long Buckby from other centres.

The centre will run activities and various sessions for young children and their parents, plus act as a contact point for parents to get information and advice.
