Callum Worster, who is part of Team Four, said: “We have chosen this charity because we believe that it is a worthy cause, and the subject hits close to home for multiple people in our group.

“Our project involves the whole group enduring 24 hours without sleep in one building. We decided to do this activity to represent the isolation that teenagers with mental health issues have to go through.”

They will give up their phones as part of the fundraiser.

“Our only contact with the outside world will be through brief livestreams, which we will do hourly on Facebook throughout the night to show what we’re doing and how we’re feeling,” added Callum.

“The aim is to raise funds for Young Minds through sponsorship. This money will be used to pay for mental health professionals to talk to distressed teenagers, advice for worried parents and aids the campaign to reduce the stigma around mental health.”

They also aim to raise awareness of the charity.

The lock-in will be taking place on August 23 to 24.
