
Officers were called out to the northbound section of the motorway near junction 15a shortly after 9am after a man was spotted hanging on to the rear axle of the large lorry, which was travelling at 55mph.
After stopping the vehicle, officers found that two men were hanging on to the rear of the lorry. Both have been detained on suspicion of illegal entry onto the UK.
Northants RPU tweeted: “Reports from a motorist travelling M1 North prior to jct 15 that there is a male waiving at him whilst sat on the rear axle of a lorry.
