Summer of fun lined up for kids

Youngsters will have no reason to be bored this summer with a wide range of sporting camps and activities organised for the school holidays.

Daventry District Council (DDC) and Everyone Active, who run Daventry Leisure Centre, are providing a number of fun sessions for children over the next six weeks.

Wicked Wednesdays makes a comeback and is running every Wednesday from July 30 to September 3.

Families can join in a range of exciting hourly sessions at the leisure centre in Lodge Road from noon to 3pm. These include inflatable fun, water zorbing and a roller disco.

Every Monday from July 28 to September 1 there will be activities for families at Daventry Country Park.

Sessions run from 10am to noon each day and activities include family orienteering, nature crafts and an alphabet walk.

The final session will be crazy golf which sees youngsters taking on a temporary course set up around Daventry Country Park. This runs from 10am to 2pm.

DDC’s community, culture and leisure portfolio holder Cllr Alan Hills said: “We’ve put together another packed programme of activities to help keep youngsters entertained over the school summer holiday.

“They offer something for everyone and I would encourage as many families as possible to take advantage of these brilliant sessions.”

There are a wide variety of sporting camps organised by Everyone Active.

Youngsters will be able to try conventional sports such as football, rugby and cricket as well as new activities such as cheerleading, trampolining, dodgeball, archery and an on-the-water rowing excursion,

The camps are £12.50 per day or £45 for the whole week
