RESIDENTS from sheltered housing schemes across the Daventry area have been learning about staying safe and healthy.

More than 30 tenants from Daventry and District Housing (DDH) went along to Daventry Leisure Centre on January 13.

Kicking off with armchair aerobics, the guests heard from experts in fire safety before wrapping up with a session on safeguarding their fellow neighbours.

Gill Dexter, DDH’s supported housing manager, said: “We wanted to support our over-60s residents in staying safe and healthy, and want to make sure they have access to the advice they need.”

Beryl Pouncey, a resident of Stephenson Court in Kilsby, said: “It was a very informative and entertaining day, and I’ve really enjoyed meeting people from other housing schemes.”

The session is part of a series designed to give DDH tenants an opportunity to voice their opinions, influence services and promote their views.
