THE opposition Labour group on Northamptonshire County Council says it would close County Hall and invest money saved in street lights and the police if it was in power.
As well as moving county council staff out of the town centre, the party has also suggested scrapping the £2 million a year the authority gives to tourism and business promotion group, the Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership.
It also believes the county’s controversial European office in Brussels should be closed.
The group’s leader Cllr John McGhee said: “It’s sickening that the Tories have got this office in Europe and most of them don’t even like the EU.
“And I’ve not seen any evidence of any money or jobs being brought into the county by this office.
“The money for this should be invested directly into Northamptonshire instead.”
