Speak up to save charities from the cuts

UNDER threat volunteer groups are pleading for the public to show their support in a bid to safeguard their funding.

Northamptonshire County Council (NCC) has launched a consultation to look at the way ‘prevention services’ such as drug and alcohol advice, youth services, children’s centres and services for the elderly and disabled are delivered.

The authority has said it needs to look at the area after a ‘huge reduction in Government funding’ left it needing to save around £44 million.

But that has left some of Daventry’s biggest volunteer groups, including the Phoenix Centre, Daventry Area Community Transport (DACT) and Time2Talk, facing potential cuts to services and staff. Advice Daventry and Home Start Daventry are also under threat.
