A SOLAR farm which could power a 1,000 homes will be unveiled at a public meeting next month.
Farmer Hugh Paton of Manor Farm in Adstone will be looking to build the first solar farm in the county on 30 acres of land between Adstone and Canons Ashby.
Mr Paton has farmed in the area since 1971 and is working with AEE Renewables, who are working on 30 sites in the UK.
They are now inviting comments on the plans from the public with a view to submitting the planning application in the coming months.
Mr Paton said: “It will be on arable farm land, but as well as having the panels there we hope to turn it into pasture land, as sheep will be able to graze in the spaces between the rows.
“We are designing a layout that avoids adverse impacts on the environment.
“We have carried out surveys to consider local issues including archaeological assets, continued use of the land for farming, biodiversity, and the impact of the proposal.”
People are invited to go along to the consultation which will take place at Adstone Village Hall. It will be open between 1pm and 7pm on Tuesday February 8.
