Signatures needed from people who vote by post

NEW signatures from people who normally vote by post are being requested by Daventry District Council.

People who usually use a postal ballot will be sent letters from Tuesday asking them to provide a new copy of their signature on a special form.

Every five years the council is required by law to get a fresh signature specimen as part of security measures.

To vote by post people have to provide their signature and date of birth, to avoid their ballot being used by someone else.

If forms are not returned by March 2 the entitlement to vote by post may be lost and people will have to re-apply.

This year, district and parish elections are on Thursday, May 3.
