Davinder Dosanjh, who runs The Paper Shop in the High Street, had rainwater coming through the roof of his premises and dripping on the floor.

Parts of the ceiling had also gone mouldy as a result of the water. The problems started in the store on Wednesday last week.

Speaking to the Daventry Express Mr Dosanjh said: “The owners of this building have been left very frustrated. It is a repair which will cost thousands of pounds and they have already spent a lot on this building before we moved in and while we have been here.”

A flat roof was responsible for letting the water into the building and he stated that he sympathised with the victims of the recent flooding.

Mr Dosanjh said: “We have experienced this problem in a very small way. It makes your heart really go out to all of the people who are going through a lot of worse problems than this.”
