CHILDREN from the gardening club at Woodford Halse Primary School had fun in the sunshine planting pumpkin seeds at Canons Ashby

Joy Rees, a National Trust garden volunteer, has been working with pupils at the school to plant and nurture the seedlings until they were ready to go into the garden.

The pumpkins were planted in Canons Ashby’s historic gardens last week, in beds that were once set aside for children of the Dryden family to cultivate.

The children and the National Trust will keep an eye on the pumpkins over the summer months and they will be ready for harvest just in time for Hallowe’en, when the pupils will return to collect them.
