Youngsters from a school in the Daventry district have won at an inter-school quiz.

Spratton Hall won the Year 6 ‘Uppingham on the Buzzer’ quiz on Tuesday.

A spokesman for the school said: “Well done to Isobel Jessop, Jack Paybody, Neeya Bhadresha and Olivia Cockburn.

“It was a hard fought contest. 15 teams were in the competition which represented nine different schools.

“In the pool our Year 6s won against Aldwickbury B 210 points to 110, Winchester House 160 points to 110 and Witham Hall 110 points against 100. These wins placed Spratton Hall at the top of the pool.

“The quarter final was against Brooke Priory and they won 250-60, the semis were against Witham Hall again and we won 140-20. The final was an incredibly hard fought contest with it ending on 150 points each to Spratton Hall and Beeston Hall so there was a decider question of ‘Which Caribbean country is famous for making cigars?’ Jack offered Cuba as the answer and the competition was won.”

The competition is now in its seventh year, and involves prep schools from across the area competing at Uppingham School in Rutland.
