POTHOLE repair work around Daventry and the rest of the county has been praised by the Government.
Northamptonshire County Council (NCC) changed its policy for dealing with potholes for the 2010 to 2011 financial year, carrying out fewer temporary repairs but more long-term work.
And in a review of the way potholes are dealt with nationally, the Department for Transport highlighted this as a template for other councils to follow.
The policy changes meant 2,579 fewer potholes were reported by the public in 2010 to 2011 compared to 2009 to 2010.
