A PONY trapped in mud in Yelvertoft was rescued by fire crews yesterday (Tuesday, November 1).
Crews from Long Buckby, Daventry and Wellingborough attended when 16-year-old Bella, was stuck up four feet in the mud. It was trapped at the base of an empty pond on the bridle path that runs from High Street in Yelvertoft to Crick.
The rescue operation started at 5.45pm and took around two hours. Firefighters using two inflatable rescue paths, shovels and buckets, dug the mud away from the animal until they were able to place a strop around her and haul her free.
Bella was exhausted and very cold, but was otherwise unhurt and left in the care of the vet and her owner.
