TOWNSPEOPLE have said they do not back plans to build a marina and canal in Daventry in a referendum carried out on Monday (March 22).
The parish poll asked people in the town if they were in favour of Daventry District Council's (DDC) canal and marina scheme.
2303 people voted against the council's plans
721 voted in favour of DDC's proposals
Meaning that 76 per cent of votes were cast against DDC's plans.
Turnout was just 16.5 per cent.
The results of the poll are not binding on DDC or any other authority.
For more on the results and reaction see the Daventry Express on Thursday.
