'It's a living nightmare': Resident raises safety concerns, parking pressures and overflowing rubbish since six-bed HMO created in quiet street in Daventry
A concerned Daventry resident says safety fears, parking pressures and overflowing rubbish have arisen in a quiet neighbourhood after a six-bed HMO was created next door to his family home.
Dawid Kozłowski of The Fairway in Daventry has voiced concerns with a property in his street recently being converted into a six-bed house in multiple occupation (HMO).
Speaking to this newspaper, the dad said: “I am at the point of pure desperation on behalf of myself and my neighbours. I live right next to what has rapidly become a living nightmare for our community.
“Recently, a private investor bought a family home next door, gutted it, and crammed in six bedrooms to create a high-density HMO. Overnight, they started moving in a high volume of people in.

“This is no longer a quiet, safe family street. It is completely changing the character of our neighbourhood. We are also dealing with overflowing waste and massive parking pressures. Parents are no longer letting their children play outside.
“We have raised this with West Northamptonshire Council but we are being completely ignored. The council is turning a blind eye while an investor profits from destroying our community cohesion.
“We are not taking this lying down. The residents have banded together are demanding an urgent inspection, a safety risk assessment, and immediate enforcement action from the council.
“We desperately need help to expose this. I live right next to this property and see the reality of it every single day.”
In response, a WNC spokesman, said: "We are unable to comment on individual applications for HMO licences while they are being considered by the council. However, a register of all licensed HMOs is available to view on the council’s website. Some HMOs fall under national permitted development rights and therefore do not require planning permission from the local authority. “We encourage anyone experiencing anti-social behaviour or concerns relating to parking or waste to report these via our website or through the council app, so they can be investigated and addressed appropriately."
