Police continue to appeal for witnesses following fatal M1 collision

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the M1 early yesterday morning.

A lorry and car collided at about 4.15am on the northbound carriageway between junctions 16 and 17.

The blue Peugeot 307 had broken down in the carriageway and was stationary in the inside lane when the collision with a green Scania HGV took place.

It is believed the car had been stationary for about 15 minutes prior to the collision and officers would like to speak to anyone who may have driven past the car in that time.

The driver of the car, a man from Northampton, died as a result of the collision.

Witnesses or anyone with information about this collision, is asked to call the Drivewatch Hotline on 08000 174615.
