HIGHWAYS engineers are looking into problems of HGV lorries using two Daventry streets as a ‘shortcut’.

People living on Shackleton Drive and Speke Drive are unhappy with the volume of large goods vehicles using the roads.

The problem has now been reported to Northamptonshire County Council by Daventry councillors Chris Long and Chris Over.

Cllr Over said: “I’ve spoken to two neighbours in the area who have told me about the problems.

“We’ve contacted highways and hopefully some signs can be put up at either end to prohibit HGV vehicles travelling down those roads.

“I’m not sure why the drivers use it, it may be that they miss a turning or use it as a shortcut.”
