Daventry Town Council’s First Lantern Making Workshop on Saturday proved a great success.

People’s creativity was amazing – creations ranged from stars, to flowers to festive Christmas trees, angels and snowmen. The more elaborate structures included a butterfly, hot air balloon and R2-D2 from Star Wars

A spokesman for the town council said: “The response has been overwhelming and people really enjoyed the experience. More and more people are wanting to get involved.

“We would like to thank the Daventry branch of Homebase and Alpine Carpet Warehouse who donated materials.”

Bookings are now being taken for the next workshop on this Saturday (November 21) at Daventry Community Centre Ashby Road, 11:30am until 6pm (final entry at 4pm).

The workshops are free and open to anyone who would like to take part in the town’s lantern parade on Friday December 4 at 6.30pm.

Lanterns take between one and two hours to make. To guarantee your space please call 01327 301246 or email
