A gross misconduct disciplinary panel at Northamptonshire Police's headquarters in Northampton next week will decide whether the officer breached the standards of professional behaviour.

Mr Button is alleged to have sent the messages in a Facebook Messenger group including a number of serving police officers and three people who no longer worked for the force.

Following an assault on his partner, who is also a police officer, he is accused of posting inappropriate comments about the attacker on May 12, 2019.

On June 17, Mr Button allegedly did the same thing when he was informed the perpetrator had been remanded in custody.

Separately, Mr Button is accused of posting 'confidential information and/or operational information and/or potential tactics used by Northamptonshire Police' when asked why there was a large police presence in Corby on June 2.

The disciplinary hearing will betake place at Wootton Hall Park on Tuesday (August 4) and Wednesday.
