Shoppers in Daventry give generously to life saving charity

The total donated by Daventry shoppers came to £1,146.44.

Jeff Sutherland-Kay, chair of the RNLI’s Northampton branch, said: “We had a super couple of days in Daventry.

“Shoppers were very generous and many stopped to chat about how much they valued the work that the RNLI does. And one or two told us about family members who had been rescued. But then it’s not where the coastline is but where the people come from who benefit from the lifeboat and beach lifeguard services.

“It makes our work with schools on Respect the Water, the RNLI’s water safety campaign, all the more important.

“As in previous years Evergreen Art Café gave us space to use as a depot and a counting house. We are very grateful to Simon Williams and the Evergreen staff for their support and for keeping us supplied with coffee.”
