Shaun's memory to live on as successful Northamptonshire fun day to become annual event

Shaun Taylor was only 26 years old when he collapsed and passed away at home on May 19, following an aortic dissection.This happens when the inner layer of the aorta, the large blood vessel branching off the heart, tears.The family said after hearing the sudden news it left them "baffled and in shock" and they described Shaun's death as "completely unheard of in someone his age". To keep Shaun's memory alive in the Cold Ashby community, where he lived with his children Oscar, Ethan and wife Vicky, a fun day was held on Sunday to raise funds for a memorial bench.Vicky said: "Shaun was an amazing guy. He worked his socks off as a workshop manager at CS Autos in Northampton."He was the loveliest guy, our Big Friendly Giant we called him as he was 6ft 3."So many people have said such lovely things because he was so selfless and would do anything to help anyone. He left behind his two beautiful boys Oscar who is five and Ethan who is four." Vicky decided to host the fun day for two reasons.Firstly to give her boys something to look forward to and secondly to raise some money to have a memorial bench put in their favourite park.Vicky added: "It's the park where Shaun taught them how to ride their bikes, so here we can all sit and remember him fondly."The fun day raised an amazing £4,660 in total and £1,000 will be given to Cold Ashby Playing Fields Association - who will be placing the bench.The further £3,660 will go towards Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance as they were on scene the morning Shaun passed away.Vicky added: "Shaun had so much respect for them - he always said what a great job they did."
