A woman from Northamptonshire will be running a mile every hour for 24 hours on Friday (May 8) to raise money for a bereavement charity.

Nell Maddison plans to jog around her garden and on a borrowed treadmill 24 times on the hour non-stop to support Cruse Bereavement Care.

"I'm looking forward to it, I'm a bit approhensive about running through the night but it will be fine to be honest," the 36-year-old from Long Buckby said.

"It will be nice weather and it's not like I have to do anything too crazy and as it's around my house and on the treadmill, it won't be too bad."

Nell is a keen runner, having previously ran marathons and in competitions, usually with her trusted running buddy Maddy the chocolate Labrador.

Maddy is a little old now to do the whole challenge so she will be taking part in just two of the one-mile runs.

Nell has borrowed a treadmill from her sister to mix up the runs, which she will start at 6am with no sleep until she finishes the next day.

"The worst bit will be about three o'clock in the morning I reckon - they will be the hardest ones," she said.

"I've always enjoyed running and I thought while the world is like it is at the moment I would do something for charity."

Nell felt compelled to help Cruse as the coronavirus pandemic makes its services under more demand but harder to do with no face-to-face support.
