Lorry driver arrested following death of motorist near Northamptonshire crossroads

A lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following the death of a motorist yesterday evening.

The crash happened at about 6.45pm on the A5 at the Long Buckby crossroads, near the junction of Long Buckby Wharf.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: “A Daf lorry, driven by a 31-year-old man from Coventry, was travelling south on the A5 towards Weedon, when it was in collision with a blue Ford Ka, driven by a 65-year-old man from Rugby.

“Sadly, the Ka driver died at the scene.”

The lorry driver is currently in police custody.
