Team members and parents of the Crick Colts Under 14 Girls have collectively run, walked and cycled the equivalent of John O'Groats to Land's End two-and-a-half times in a mammoth charity fundraiser.

The team completed the 845-mile task in 16 days to raise money for Diabetes UK and Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.

Although the task has brought cheer to the team, it has a sad origin - with it coming about because one of the team members lost her father and grandma.

A spokesperson for the team said: "This fundraiser is in honour of Jess's dad and grandma who both died recently.

"Jess's dad Simon lived with diabetes hence one of the chosen charities.

"It's a difficult time for Jess and her family but hopefully with the love and support of the team and everyone around them they will get through this."

"I am so proud of the girls who have put down their ipads, phones and game consoles and gone out in the fresh air and run, jogged, walked, cycled hundreds of miles."

So far the fundraiser has collected more than £1,500 - far surpassing its original £1,000 target.
