Parliament visit for Zoe who has designs on the prize

A Daventry woman is attending Parliament to present her chemistry research to a range of politicians and a panel of expert judges, as part of SET for Britain.

Zoe Ayres, 24, a PhD researcher at the University of Warwick, designed a poster on the development of a boron-doped diamond pH sensor. It will be judged against dozens of other scientists’ research in the only national competition of its kind.

Zoe was shortlisted from hundreds of applicants to appear in Parliament.

On presenting her research in Parliament, she said: “The competition is one of its kind, being national in scale and I am very excited to be part of it.

“I look forward to sharing the research I have been working on with a wider audience.”

Judged by leading academics, the gold medallist receives £3,000, while silver and bronze receive £2,000 and £1,000 respectively.

It takes place on March 7.
