There are due to be some new arrivals to Cotton End Park in the near future.

A total of 15 sheep which arrived in April 2013 have all been raised by hand and are all pregnant.

They were introduced to a ram called Evan Almighty back in October and the new lambs are due to be born on March 1.

Donna Criswell-Sanderson, who looks after the sheep, said: “The sheep are quite friendly and used to people.

“It is quite exciting to have the lambs due.

“The sheep are part of community and as such a Sponsor-A-Sheep programme is in place.

“This helps raise much needed funds for the upkeep of the sheep.

“The cost of the sponsorship is £7.50 a year and includes a certificate and photograph of the chosen sheep.”

A quarterly newsletter is sent to each sponsor giving them detailed information about the sheep.

There are two boys in Doha, Qatar who have sponsored one of the sheep.

Donna added: “I send them newsletters and pictures on a weekly basis. They also come over once a year to look at the sheep and they are very excited to see them.”
